Fall walks

October 2022 - Another beautiful day so dad and I headed out side for a walk. This time we are walking on Lefly Trail at Saltcoats. Many of the leaves had already fallen down but there is still a wonderful display of yellow. Dad snapped a photo of Bernard and I soaking up the autumn vibes.

The beauty of fall

October 2022 - Out hiking with dad and watching him take a photo of the autumn leaves. Bernard is waiting for us to get moving again.

Fall hiking

October 2022 - Out for a hike in the woods with dad. We decided we better get outside and enjoy the fall colours before they are gone. We picked a beautiful day for a walk.

Coffee break

October 2022 - It is the weekend and dad and I are working on cleaning up the garden and the yard. I am taking a coffee break. Time to relax and enjoy the warm weather we have. One of the last chances to sit by the lake and enjoy the view.

No water in Saskatchewan…

October 2022 - I am flying from Calgary to Saskatoon and I am somewhere over Saskatchewan when I looked down and saw so many of these white lakes. At first I thought it must have been a snow storm while I was away. But then I realized that no this is not snow it is salt. The lakes have dried up and all that remains is salt. I was shocked. There were many of these white lakes. Too many to count. It made me really wonder about water. Are we in a drought? I know it did not rain in the fall. We had a very dry and hot fall. I wondered when did this water dry up. Was it recently or a while ago? I don't know. I haven't heard anything in the news about a drought in Saskatchewan.

PEI from the air

October 2022 - I am headed back home and this is my last look at PEI from the air. I was surprise how many farms there were on the island. I wasn't expecting it to be so rural. I really enjoyed my visit and I will come back for another visit, I just don't know when.

Touching the Atlantic

October 2022 - My visit could not be complete without touching the Atlantic Ocean. I was hoping that might stick my feet in but it was a tad cold for that adventure...

Red beaches of PEI

October 2022 - Beth was a wonderful tour guide and she got me out and about during my visit. We are visiting yet another beach and enjoying a walk along the sea. Here is a good example of the red sands of PEI.

I Heart PEI

October 2022 - As you know I like to find heart rocks and this beach walk did not disappoint. It is a bonus to have a light house and a heart rock. This light house is actually a hotel that you can stay at during the summer. It was closed now for the season and it was a little bit up from Hurricane Fiona.

Beach walks

October 2022 - we visited many different beaches on my trip to PEI. I can't remember which beach this one is but I enjoyed having a chance to walk along the ocean and feel the sea breeze on my face and smell the salty air.

Apple picking

October 2022 - Out picking apples. I was surprised how many different variety of apples they grew. We had a little wagon and we picked and picked. There were apples everywhere on the ground from the Hurricane Fiona. But luckily there were still many apples on the trees.

Charlotte Town, PEI

Just some of the sights in Charlotte Town. We spent a rainy afternoon walking around and checking out the sights. One of the lobster shacks were open as they just had power restored after the hurricane so we we able to get a lobster roll!

Lobster Traps

September 2022 - Signs of lobster fishing in PEI. These traps were all stacked up on shore. We were planning to go on a tourist adventure to go lobster fishing for the day but due to Hurricane Fiona this event was cancelled. I was looking forward to pulling up on of these traps with some lobsters in side!

Lobster Time

September 2022 - Hanging out in PEI and out on a walk about at the beach. This lobster shack was closed for the season which was a bummer.  But I decided to snap a photo anyways. I will have to come back in the summer so I can try a lobster roll.

PEI Holidays

September 2022 - I made it to PEI! My second night and time for lobster dinner. It was amazing. I ate this whole lobster along with a bucket of mussels! I am in heaven. Look at all this butter. So yummy.

Autumn in Saltcoats

September 2022 - Enjoying a beautiful evening in Saltcoats. Time to get out for a paddle! Look at the lake. No wind. Perfect for my paddle board.

Nature bathing

September 2022 - Out for a walk in the woods. Nature bathing is good for the soul. Soaking up the last rays of sunshine.

Hammock Time

Sept 2022 - Some of the last days of Summer. Getting a little down time in my hammock. Bernard is happy to have rest on a human.

Dog walks

August 2022 - Out for a dog walk on the lake loop around Saltcoats. It is a 6km walk and Bernard usually walks about 60% of it.

Saltcoats

August 2022 - Out for a dog walk in the evening and enjoying the colourful sunset. A quick snap of the community garden.

Paddling

August 2022 - Paddling along in Anderson Lake at Saltcoats. Enjoying some warm weather and calm water.

Cabin Time

July 2022 - Every morning I sit on the deck and enjoy my coffee looking at the lake. It is so relaxing to be at the cabin.

Lake life

July 2022 - I am now spending time out at the cabin at Duck Mountain. Time for some cabin life. It is so quiet and peaceful here as I watch the sunset.

Remembering mom

I have been gathering up photos of mom to prepare a slide show for the Celebration of Life and I came across this photo. I can remember this Canada Day. It is so strange to see my mom's writing on the poster and to recognize her writing. She looks so young in this photo. I miss her so much.

Halpenny Family visits

July 2022, my mom's Celebration of Life. We finally get a chance to visit with all the family. The weather was hot and sunny and we enjoyed a visit in the backyard. It was nice to have everyone together again!

Sunset Drinks

The garden is planted now and the days are longer and warmer. I am enjoying a little time on the balcony to watch the sunset with a fun cocktail.

Bbq time!

Summer has arrived and so has bbq time. We are cooking up some beef ribs! Plus some garden fresh veggies.

Spring paddling

I was out for a kayak on Anderson Lake and I found a nest. I think this is probably a Canada Goose as the eggs look big. However, I was wondering why no one was sitting on the nest.

Spring in Saltcoats

Getting ready to plant the garden. The snow is gone and the grass is green!

Saltcoats at Sunset

Out for a walk and watching the sun go down. The grain elevator in the background and a nice reflection on the water that is sitting in the field. It is a wet spring here.

Rain is coming

Hanging out at Nose Hill Park in Calgary and watching the rain come.

Poppy the bunny

Bernard is meeting Poppy. Poppy was curious and gave Bernard a sniff and then hopped away. Bernard was very excited.

I heart water

It the spirit of collecting heart rocks. I share another heart shaped rock that I found along the river on my walk today.

April - Chemo Driver

April 2022

High River, Alberta

Here I am at the High River Chemo Clinic waiting for Trent. I am his driver in the month of April to take him to his chemo appointments. It is 4 hour wait while he gets his IV drip. Lucky for me I have a friend that lives in the city and I can go out and grab a coffee while I wait. Trent usually has a little nap.

April Dog Walks

Spring 2022

Calgary, Alberta

Bernard and I on a dog walk around the neighbourhood. You can see downtown Calgary way off in the distance behind us. The snow is almost gone and the days are getting warmer. However, the wind keeps blowing and keeping everything cool.

Backyard Fun

March Adventures

Well, with longer days it is an opportunity to hang out side after dinner. I headed over to Trent's house for backyard BBQ party. We had a fire and roasted some marshmallows. The girls were very excited. We had a good fire going and we had to wait a while before we got down to the coals.

Snack Time?!

Bernard

With the warmer spring weather Bernard and I are able to enjoy some time in the sun on the back deck. Bernard believes this snack time and he wants some dog treats. How can you say no to this little face. You can just hear his voice saying, "dog treats please!"

A broken heart

Found Items

On my walks I always look for stones that are shaped like hearts. I was amazed to find this one that is so close to perfect. It seem likes someone took a bite out of it. I thought it was like a broken heart. So I felt it could join my collection.
