Backyard Fun

March Adventures

Well, with longer days it is an opportunity to hang out side after dinner. I headed over to Trent's house for backyard BBQ party. We had a fire and roasted some marshmallows. The girls were very excited. We had a good fire going and we had to wait a while before we got down to the coals.

Snack Time?!

Bernard

With the warmer spring weather Bernard and I are able to enjoy some time in the sun on the back deck. Bernard believes this snack time and he wants some dog treats. How can you say no to this little face. You can just hear his voice saying, "dog treats please!"

A broken heart

Found Items

On my walks I always look for stones that are shaped like hearts. I was amazed to find this one that is so close to perfect. It seem likes someone took a bite out of it. I thought it was like a broken heart. So I felt it could join my collection.

March Dog Walks

March 2022

Some grey clouds ahead. It looks like it could rain. The weather has warmed up and the snow is gone. Bernard and I are on our daily walk. We have a 5km loop that we can do from the house. It is a nice walk when the sun is out and weather is warm.

Looking for Leprechaun

March 17, 2022  - St Patrick's Day

While in Kimberley I went on a walk about to look for leprechaun on St. Patrick's Day. We did spot these interesting green boots and wondered if we might have found one....

Spring Ski

March Skiing

I headed out to the trails at Kimberley, BC. I was amazed how much snow they still had. The snow was getting soft and slushy from the sun but the there was still so much to ski. It was a wonderful 6km loop around. I tried to stick to the green trail as there were some BIG hills....

Heart Rock

March Road Trip

Out for a drive and I found a huge heart rock! Bernard and I were out stretching our legs and walking along the road when I spotted this rock. Yet another one to add to my collection.

Spring Ski

March 15, 2022

I decided to head out to West Bragg Creek to check out the cross country ski trails before they were gone... The trails are quickly melting. Bernard and I went together and I carried him in the dog backpack as I skied along the trails. We logged 8km. It was a fun afternoon to be outside. I am sad that the cross country season will now be over...

Skiing at Sunshine

March 13, 2022

Out for a ski in the mountains. It was a cloudy day and lightly snowing but it was wonderful to be at Sunshine Village. I had a fun day skiing with a group of friends. I even ran into a few old co-workers! We spent the day logging runs and enjoying 8cm of new snow!

Kananaskis Hiking

March Hikes

Out for a snowshoe with some friends. We found a trail at West Bragg Creek that still had lots of snow on it. It was a sunny day and we walked through the trees. It was nice to get out and spend some time in the mountains. Bernard had to stay home as he doesn't like snowshoes. But the hike probably would have been a little much for his short legs. We did a 7km loop climbing up and then back down.

Winter Walk

FEB 2022 - Walking in the Snow

Out for another dog walk. We go out for a 3-5km afternoon walk each day. It was a little cooler today and we had more snow. Winter has returned. Bernard was happy to sniff along the trails. As you can see he has gathered a little bit of snow/ice on his nose...

Birthday Walk

February 25, 2022

Outside for another dog walk. This time with Friends. We met at the Edworthy Dog Park for a chance to enjoy the off leash area. Bernard wasn't that impressed as there were many large dogs there. He preferred walking the trails and away from all the big dogs. The snow still makes the trails slippery but the sun was shining and it got up to +12c. A beautiful February afternoon.

Winter Walks

Sunny and Clear - Feb 20, 2022

Bernard and I are out for a walk. The snow has returned and covered everything in white. But with the sun it is cheery out. I enjoy walking along this woodland trail as it feels like I am far away from the city...

Dog walk

Winter Walks

Bernard and I walked along the Glenmore Reservoir. It was a little cool as the windy picked up but we enjoyed a 5km walk along the trails with some nice views.

Fullerton Trail with Snow

Kananaskis Country

Just a week later and what a difference! This is the same Fullerton Trail but it snowed! Winter returned and the trails are now all snowy. Dad was in Calgary for a visit to see Trent and we decided to go on this hike since I knew the way. So dad, Bernard and I enjoyed a snowy loop. The trail was a little slippery and icy on some parts but with the fresh snow we were able to manage just fine.

Fullerton Trail

Kananaskis Country

Trent, Bernard and I got outside for a hike as it was +10c. The trail was free of snow. I couldn't believe it. February and the snow is gone. We hiked 6km on the Fullerton Loop. We were rewarded with a nice view at the top before looping back down through the trees were we did find some snow and ice. I guess in the shadows of the trees the snow was unable to melt. It was a great hike and I was happy to spend a little time with Trent before his upcoming surgery.

Dog walks

Spring Weather

Out for a walk with Bernard. The snow is slowly melting and the temps are getting warmer. Spring is on it's way. I stopped to snap a photo to show the terrain and our smiles to be outside!

Nature tv

Winter Mornings

Bernard and I are watching the snow fall. We are watching nature TV and hoping that we will see some animals in the back yard. It is so quiet and peaceful here.

Sunsets

Elbow Valley

There was a colourful sunset tonight and I wanted to capture the beauty of it. I tried to get the reflection on the water. The ice is slowly melting after a week of +10c temps.

Ski time

Nakiska Ski Area

My first time back on skis since 2016 when I went on a ski trip to Japan. I had not skied at Nakiska since 1996 when I came on a school trip. It was fun to be on my skis and I had a good day with no crashes. It was windy and the upper chair had to close due to wind but we still managed to log many runs and enjoy a fun day.

Dog snuggles

Staying Warm

Bernard and I are enjoying some morning snuggles on a cold winter morning. The snow has returned and it is cold again today. I guess spring hasn't arrived yet.

Elbow Falls

Time in Nature

Enjoying a walk outside with +2c temps. The snow is starting to melt here at Elbow Falls. The park was busy with many families outside making the most of a warm and sunny day.

Saskatchewan Roads

January 27, 2022

Enjoying a sunny blue sky day in Saskatchewan. I wanted to capture the different shades of blue in the sky and the fluffy clouds.
