Here are a few travel hints for a trip to Bali:
1) STAY - Great guesthouse in Sanur is the Kolonial House. There is a lovely little pool. Breakfast is included and it is a short walk to the beach. They also have a yoga studio at the beach so you can go to yoga class with a discounted price hotel guests. Visit www. kolonialhouse.com for more details.
2) EAT - Little Bird is a cute little local cafe in Sanur with cheap food. The nasi goreng is awesome. I ordered it each time I went there. It is also highly recommended on Tripadviser.
3) FLIGHT - A trip from Macau to Bali (traveling at CNY) is 3,780MOP which is about $630 CDN.
4) Air Asia - If you don't pay for checked luggage watch out in Bali. Air Asia is checking and then they charge you when your carry on is over weigh. You are allowed 7KG for a carry on and my bag was 1oKG so I had to pay for checked baggage and check it. Cost 315,000 IDR = $30 CDN.
5) Visa on Arrival - you have to pay for a visa when you arrive. The good news is that you don't need a photo and you can pay in any currency. The cost is about $40 USD.
6) Departure Tax - you have to pay to leave Bali. Get ready with your last bits of IDR currency. You have to pay 250,000 at the airport to leave.
7) DRIVER - You will want to hire a private driver when you are in Bali as taxis are hard to come by. I recommend Dewa.
