Hiking to The Annapurnas

https://www.trektohimalayas.com/

The hiking trails traversed on this trip showcase new routes away from the busy teahouse trails and offers some of the best walking trails in the Annapurnas. It includes the Pokhara Valley with its panoramic views of Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail) and the Annapurna massif. You will experience the picturesque Gurung villages set among beautiful rhododendron forested hills, and ridge lines provide stunning vantage points for views of these high peaks. The Annapurna Himal is a vast massif with several peaks above 7,000m. Part of the range forms a natural amphitheater known as the Annapurna Sanctuary, ringed by such giants as Annapurna 1, Fang, Annapurna South, Glacier Dome, Gangapurna, and Machhapuchhare.

We trek through forested hillsides to Ghorepani where we ascend Poon Hill for a magnificent panoramic sunrise of the Annapurnas and Dhaulagiri. Trails leading to Dobato take you through lush green forests, where if you’re lucky, you may come across langur monkeys swinging from the treetops. As you reach higher altitudes and as you climb above the tree line you may find herds of yaks grazing in the sun. Watching the sunrise from the Muldai viewpoint is truly spectacular, at 3,647m. With a 360-degree views of the Himalayas and surrounding valley, it is undoubtedly one of the highlights of this trek. Plus, at Muldai viewpoint it will be only you and your group in the early morning, enjoying this view.

Descending down to the local village of a Gurung community we will stop to enjoy a rest day while staying with the locals to experience their culture, tradition and daily life. You will have opportunities to participate in various local activities such as weaving, plowing, grinding corn as well as spending time with local families. The next day, we will make our way into a narrow valley where we pass directly below Machhapuchhare before eventually reaching the Annapurna Sanctuary, a veritable home of the Gods. The highlight of the trek will be to reach the Annapurna Base Camp. We will have an afternoon to explore and relax in this magnificent location at 4,130m and we will enjoy another beautiful Himalayan sunrise. Returning to the valley, the next night will be spent at Kot Danda, our own “Little Paradise” with enough down time to relax. The following day you will be crossing the Modi Khola to trek on other side of the ridge to Landruk Village and Tolka then up to Pritam Deurali. Finally, you trek along local foot trail ending in the beautiful tea garden of Lwang Village. From Lwang it is around a three hour drive jeep ride back to Pokhara. This is a moderately strenuous alpine trek from 900m to 4,200m offers close-up mountain views and a glimpse of authentic Nepali culture. The average day includes a trek of 10km. Some days will be shorter and on our days with a decent we might walk up to 20km. Accommodation will be in comfortable lodges run by local families, and clients carry day-packs and walk at their own pace. The rest of your gear will be carried by local Nepali porters. This allows you to focus on enjoying the trek and soaking in the scenery.
