Day 3 in Bardia and we are back out on a jungle walk. We heard from other guides and tourists that a Bengal Tiger was spotted crossing the river so we thought we would also go to the river and hope it comes back.
We were in luck. We managed to be at the right spot at the right time. We saw a large male Bengal Tiger step out of the forest and cross the river. It was an excellent animal sighting as we were far enough way to be safe and not disturb the tiger. It happened very fast and I managed to snap 3 photos with my camera and the Tiger was gone.
We spent the day walking in the jungle but we only spotted the tiger once. We did see a family of river otters catching fish. We also got to see a Rhino walk along the river eating grass. Then at the end of the day our guide spotted a python moving through the grass.
So we had a very successful and fun jungle walk. I couldn’t believe that we saw a tiger. It was truly a magical experience to see a wild tiger in the jungle - on foot!! The Bardia National Park boost a population of 89 Bengal Tigers. However, they are very elusive and challenging to spot in the dense jungle. They also cover huge territories so it is difficult to predict where they will be.
