What I Forgot

Tuesday, 19 August 2014

After spending 6 weeks in Canada I have forgotten what it is like to be in China. I forgot how hot it is here. I forgot that I can't sleep if I don't turn on the air con. It is way too hot in my apt. I forgot that there are cockroaches in my apartment. Grrr, I hate those bugs. At least they are small ones, so I can manage to kill them easily enough. I also forgot how busy it is here. There are people everywhere and it is loud. I forgot that I need to wear sunglasses as the sun is to bright when I go outside. I forgot that I should never go to the grocery store on Sunday as it is a gong show there. Way too busy. I had to wait in line forever to pay for my food. I forgot that when you order water you get a bottle of water so you should always ask for a large water.

Right now I am sitting in the immigration office waiting for my visa and it is loud here. There are announcements playing over the speakers but of course I cannot understand them as they are in Cantoneses. There are people everywhere. It is busy here. Luckily we don't have to wait long. It is noisy here and I am happy to head back outside into the rain.
