In April I traveled to Luang Prabang, Laos. I had a chance to go on a workshop with a bunch of teachers from TIS. We had some free time in the evenings and I had a chance to visit the famous night market. This night market is so unique and special. It is one of the last original markets of Asia. So many of the markets in Thailand have now become so commercial. The goods are mostly from China. They are poor quality and no longer special. You can find the same trinkets in every market. However, here in LP the goods are still hand made by the ladies that are selling the goods in the market. The market still feels special and unique. You can find special items in the this market that you won't find anywhere else. You also feel a sense of helping others when you buy items at the market because you know that your money is going to the lady at the stall and this money will help her family. Here is a short video of the sunset and the market slowly being set up. They close the main street in town and all the ladies set up tents and lights to showcase their goods.
