Exploring KL

Sunday, 20 April 2014

Here we are at the huge shopping centre in downtown KL. We took this photo to send to our "shopping friends" - you know who you are.... We thought you would be jealous of all the great shopping and brand name shops here at the mall. Personally, dad & I only came to the mall for the air con. It was hot out at + 35C. It was nice to escape the heat for a while.

We started our day with a delicious breakfast at a Moroccan restaurant. We sat outside in the sun and watched the city slowly wake up and get busier and busier. After a relaxing breakfast we jumped in a taxi and headed to the Bird Park! Yup, we spent the next 3 hours at the world's largest free flight aviary park. You can probably guess how many photos my dad took. It was interesting checking out all the different birds of Asia.

We left the park and stopped for lunch near the mall. Then we went into the mall to check it out. We returned to the hotel to relax and refresh before dinner. I wanted to show dad China Town and the street hawkers. So we wondered out through the maze of markets and food stalls. Dad informed me that he couldn't eat at any of these food stalls as the travel nurse told him to avoid these. He could get sick! Ok, ok, we left the food stalls and China Town and headed to a fancy Malaysian restaurant. It was lovely. We shared prawns in a coconut curry. It was too spicy for dad but he liked the spicy mango salad with chillies - go figure.

After dinner we returned home to pack our bags and prepare to leave the hotel in the early morning. Our taxi would arrive at 6:00am so we wanted to be prepared to just wake up and go.
