Wat Phra That Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai

Thursday, 6 February 2014

Here are a few photos from Chiang Mai the temple city. We visited the famous Wat Phra That Doi Suthep and I snapped a few photos to share with you. I love Thai Wats. They are so beautiful and colorful. I love looking at all the carvings and dragons guarding the doors. The temple is on the top of a large mountain it is a 40 minute taxi ride away from the city. We took a song thaw which is a Thai taxi where you ride in the back of a pick up truck. These are really cheap and it only cost us 100 bhat to travel to the temple which is about $3 cdn. It was certainly much faster going in the taxi than walking up the mountain - which some people, we won't mention who - had suggested.

After a lovely afternoon at the temple walking around the grounds and taking photos we headed back into the old town for lunch. We found a little noodle shop to have some Phad Thai and cold drinks. Life is good.

I reall don't want to leave Chiang Mai. It is lovely city that is full of life. Tonight they are setting up markets in celebration of the flower festival. There will be a prade with floats and lots of little venders out selling food & trinkets. It will be a good evening.
