Wat Thong Cha - Famous Temple

After spending a few lazy days on the beach we decided to visit the famous Wat Thong Chai that we could see from the beach. It is a large temple that is built on the top of a hill at the end of the beach. At night it is all lit up with lights showing the giant Buddha staring down on the town. It was a 3 km walk from our hotel and being smart travellers we decided to walk there during the hottest part of the day at noon. It was a long, hot walk in the sun. But it was worth it once we got to the temple. 

There was a large statue of a Buddha on the ridge and after walking further up the hill we came across this gate. A perfect spot for a jumping photo! Then we continued on to the main temple. It looked brand new. It was huge. There were two stories. Here is a photo of Bogey at the entrance to the Wat practising one of his yoga moves.
