Fish Balls

On the weekend I went out with the students from the dorm and we went to karaoke. I should mention that in Asia karaoke usually means that you rent a small, sound proof room and you and your friends spend the next 5 hours singing away to each other in your very own private karaoke experience. This meant that I was in a small room for 5 hours listening to 6 students belt out various tunes. There is a phone in the room so you can call the front desk and order food or drinks. The students ordered fish balls as a snack. I wasn’t all that excited about trying fish balls and they didn’t seem like something I would want to order as a snack. However, I decided I better try them since the students were all watching me and encouraging me to try them.

Basically fish balls are just ground up fish bits so they are just like a meat ball. They are covered with various sauces and they are actually yummy. The dish on the left was sort of covered in a Thai chilli sauce that was sweet and spicy. The dish on the right was covered in a mayonnaise sauce. I don’t think that I will be ordering fish balls any time soon as I can think of other snacks I would rather have. However, I will try fish balls again if i have the chance.
