Pigeon - how yummy!

Friday, 12 October 2012

Hello Fans,

Sorry for the lack of blog posts this week. As you may have guessed I am getting busier at school. I have less free time than before. Report cards are now only 3 weeks away and it is time to get cracking. Also I am spending more time planning my lessons as we are moving into more complex content now that we have been at school for 7 weeks. I will try to get my blog updated.

This post is about a recent dinner I had - Pigeon! As you can see it comes out to the table looking just like a pigeon. Just like everything else that you try it tasted like chicken! Although I would compare it more to duck than chicken because the meat was dark and it was really greasy. It was hard to eat because I am not use to looking at the animal’s head and beak when I eat chicken or duck. This was my first time to eat pigeon and it was ok. I don’t think I will order it again, but it was worth ordering it once to try it out. Of course there are many other dishes on the menu that I should venture out and try. This dish was actually pretty mild as there are far more interesting items to order. I will keep you posted if I feel adventurous again one week at dinner. I did try the “thousand year old eggs” when I went out for dim sum. I don’t think I will try them again. They were a black jelly with a bright yellow yolk. It was like a black hard boiled egg. It was strange. I think that is the only way I can describe it. I had to keep my eyes closed and not think about why the egg was black and what does thousand year old really mean.

Is it lost in translation?
